Garden Angel

A mirror-creation on muslin — and a demonstration that a composition does not have to be completed in a single session. The ferns were left to dry before the fabric was peeled apart, and what emerged was a surprise: the dried fronds separated in a way that became a kind of skirt, lending an unexpected texture and dimension to the piece. You can return to a work, add to it, let it rest, and come back again. There is no rule that says it must all happen at once. That texture is real, and it is part of the piece. A photograph can only hint at it — to truly appreciate what pounded flora can do, you have to hold the work in your hands.

Spell on Doubtful Knight's Spur

A mirror-creation made from Doubtful Knight's Spur (larkspur). Two pieces of fabric were placed with the same flora — one beneath, one on top — yet nature chose its own path for each. The pigment, the texture, the depth of color: none of it can be predicted or controlled. That unpredictability is the whole point. Mirror-creations are sold only in pairs.
